Report a stolen plant or machinery
Excavators, skid steers, generators and attachments are stolen from sites and yards and re-listed or shipped on. PIN and serial numbers are the backbone of any recovery.
The identifier that gets it back: PIN / serial number
Product Identification Number on the frame or a data plate; record engine and attachment serials separately.
Types we watch
- Excavator & digger
- Skid steer & loader
- Generator & compressor
- Attachments
- Compaction & concrete
- Access & lifting
How theft and resale play out
- Attachments (buckets, augers, hammers) are stolen and sold on their own.
- Machines are frequently trucked interstate before re-listing.
- Data plates get removed — a photographed stamped serial survives.
If yours is already gone
- Report it to police and keep the event/reference number.
- Register the plant or machinery on Theftsight (or mark it stolen) with the pin / serial number and photos.
- Share the record with your insurer — they can work the same candidate queue.
- If a listing matches, export the proof pack — never confront a seller alone.

Put your plant or machinery under watch
Register it in two minutes — private by default. If it's stolen, Gumtree, Facebook Marketplace and eBay are scanned against it, and police and insurers on the network can see the case.
